Pete Carter is a part-time finance director and analyst of creative agency data & finances

/purpose

Pete works with creative agency owners and their teams to understand where they do and don’t make money, analysing profitability by client, project and sector. His focus is on the day-to-day finances and profitability, rather than the traditional once-per-year one-size-fits-all tax-accountant approach.

Pete’s aim is to support agencies by using their historical P&L data (“looking to the left”) to develop and inform real-time forecasting for the future (“looking to the right”), so that they can readily understand and make decisions based on the latest view of their sales forecast and pipeline, their hiring plan and their growth objectives.

If you don’t yet have that data, Pete can help you put in place the systems and processes to collect, optimise and utilise it.

/background

Pete (Peter Carter BA ACMA CGMA) trained as a Chartered Accountant in the 1990’s with one of (what was then) the “Big Six” accountancy firms, before moving to work with small businesses.

He later set up and ran a financial outsourcing agency until 2019, before selling up and shifting focus to concentrate on small agency financial analysis and profitability. For the last 15-20 years Pete has worked with creative agencies, recruiters, HR firms, production companies, PR and marketing businesses to improve the quality of their financial systems and processed, and moreover their understanding of how raw financial data can be captured and optimised to enable confident and strategic decision-making.
